Fibroadenoma Surgery Nov.20.2015

The day before my surgery which was on Thursday (Nov 19, 2015) afternoon called me to tell me how to prepare for my surgery on Friday afternoon at 2:30pm (Nov 20. 2015)  She mention that I could not use the following products:

1.Water
2.Mints/Gum
3.Any kind of liquid
4.Any kind of food
5. Make up
6.Deodorant
7.Perfume
8.Hairspray
9.Lotion
10.Mouthwash

Unless,  I was very thirty I could get a ice cube and put in my mouth and let wet my mouth. I also have to buy antibacterial soap to shower before the surgery. Woohoo!! When I stopped eating the day before. I became very hangry just from not eating. Haha!

At 12pm- I took a shower with the antibacterial soap that the nurse recommended me the day before.  Then I put on some of my most comfortable clothes that  I had. 😀 wpid-c360_2015-11-21-05-02-50-134.jpg

My older sister took me to the Lakeside Hospital Outpatient building. I went to check in at the desk and I had to go over the my paperwork and do and sign a couple of documents.

Once I was done, I waited with my sister   at the waiting room. Hoping to hear my name be called. After 15 mins  of waiting. My name was called.  The nurse took me to a small room. I had to change into my stylish  green gown and brown tan hospital socks. Afterwards she had to check my vitals. Then she poke me with a numbing needle on my left hand. Which helps you not feel the pain when they insert the IV into my hand. It was bad at all. Once she started the IV. I got a big bag of fluids, small bag of antibiotics, and 2 medicines to prevent motion sickness.   While the was making sure she has put the IV correctly.  A tall guy enter the room who was the Anesthesiologist. He was telling me that I was getting the twilight anesthesia.

Twilight anesthesia is an anesthetic technique that uses mild doses of drugs to block pain, reduce anxiety, and provide a temporary memory loss, thus enabling patients to feel comfortable during and after surgical procedures

After he sign a couple of papers he left the room. The nurse brought my sister back to the room with me. And she was taking a lot of pictures and videos of me . We were cracking up so much. The surgery was supposed to be at 2:30pm. But the doctor came 1-1 1/2 hrs late. Once the doctor came into my room. He mark the side where the fibroadenoma was.   The doctor told me that I cant my blood pressure or blood drawn from my right side due to the surgery. Once he told me that he  left, so he could get ready for the surgery. image

Then the nurse told me sister to go the waiting room.  The OR nurse- Karen came and put me a blue surgical hat on me. And I walked straight to the OR. Once I got on top of the table. The Anesthesiologist put me a mask and Nurse Karen put 3-4 warm blankets on me. Which felt sooo warm and fuzzy.  The doctor was able to remove the 4cm tumor which I was soo happy. There was no complications during the mini surgery.

I woke up at 4:30pm in the recovery room. I did not remember anything during the procedure. I felt that I just came back from a super deep sleep. Within 15 mins of waking up. I asked the nurse for food and water.  Ha! Then I was able to change in to my comfy clothes. At this point I felt no pain. Because  I took some painkillers. Then 20-30 mins later I got into a wheel chair and was wheeled down the sister’s car. It was cold and it begin to snow. I told the nurse thank you for everything and my next

Afterwards,  I had to go to the pharmacy to get hydrocodone and stool softener.

Once  I got home I got olive garden, my mom made me a lentil soap and candy. haha I was able to eat everything. I started to feel the after effects of the hydrocodone. I decided to go to sleep at 8pm.

I woke up at 1 am because I couldn’t go to sleep at all. And then I when to sleep at 5 and woke up again at 8 am. I have not taken any hydrocodone since 10:30 pm . I have to call Monday to make an appointment at the Lakeside breast heath center- For my follow up. So the doctor could remove the plastic surgical bandage.

The doctor send the tumor to pathology and Ill know the results in the couple of weeks. 😀  Just to make sure it was a fibroadenoma.

      1. For me personally. It did not leave a hollow space where they took the fibroadenoma. But It did leave a minor scar. I’ve been putting vitamin e oil on the scar and as the weeks go by. It is starting to fade 😀

Good Luck with everything and if you have any questions please ask 🙂
        Have a great day.
