This will be the first time I ever harvest impatiens seeds. I also learned a couple of things while doing it. Impatiens always produce pods after the flowers has been successfully pollinated. Afterwards the pod starts to forms. The only way to tell once the pod is ready to be harvest is that the pod has to look somewhat translucent. If its not, then its not ready yet. When its time to harvest, cut the stem of the pod or else the pod will open up quickly. If you put pressure the pod opens up and the seeds fly over 20 ft. I’m super excited for next year because instead of buying impatiens. I could grow them for free. 😀
Careful when you handle the pods. They will explode! xD TIP- Put all the impatiens seeds in a container, spreading the pods. Let them sit over night and once they get a little dry. You can manually open them. Without the pods exploding on you.
